Cocktails & Casas: Sea Level & The Coastal Collins

For our second stop in the Cocktails & Casas series, we’re headed seaside—where 1980s bones meet fresh coastal modernism in a home designed for salt air, soft light, and sunset cocktails.

🏡 Sea Level

Once a dated beachfront with choppy layouts and heavy details, Sea Level was reimagined into a seamless, open, and breezy modern beach house. With interiors by Nathan Turner, the transformation celebrates ocean living: cool greens and deep blues flow from the sea right into the rooms, while walls open wide to let in the horizon.

The highlight? A circular rotunda bar—the heart of the home and the ultimate place to mix a drink, entertain friends, or just watch the tide roll in.

This is a house that feels like an exhale. Airy but grounded, refined but casual, it’s the embodiment of California coastal ease.

🍸 The Coastal Collins

To complement Sea Level’s fresh and elegant vibe, we’re pairing it with a Coastal Collins—a beachy riff on the Tom Collins, infused with cucumber, basil, and a hint of sea salt.

Why it works:

It’s citrusy, botanical, and crisp—like a breeze off the ocean. Just like the house, this cocktail is clean and modern with a classic foundation, and every sip feels like vacation.

🍹 Coastal Collins Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz gin (or vodka if you prefer)
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 0.75 oz simple syrup
  • 2 cucumber slices
  • 2 basil leaves
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Soda water to top
  • Ice
  • Garnish: cucumber ribbon + basil sprig

Instructions:

  1. Muddle cucumber, basil, and simple syrup in a shaker.
  2. Add lemon juice, gin, and a pinch of sea salt.
  3. Shake with ice and strain into a tall Collins glass filled with fresh ice.
  4. Top with soda water.
  5. Garnish with a cucumber ribbon and fresh basil.

🌊 Final Sip

Sea Level and the Coastal Collins share a coastal soul: fresh, uplifting, and made for easy living. Whether you’re lounging in a beachside rotunda or just dreaming of it, this pairing brings the breeze to you.

Next up, we head inland for wood tones, twilight colors, and a smoky twist on a classic. Stay tuned for the next Cocktails & Casas.
