22 Oct Cocktails & Casas: The Malibu Bluff Estate & The Coastal Bloom
In this sixth chapter of Cocktails & Casas, we head to the edge of the world—or at least it feels that way—where the ocean meets the horizon and architecture meets atmosphere.
Perched atop a dramatic bluff in Malibu, this Balinese-inspired estate is a meditation on serenity, craftsmanship, and connection to nature. A series of open-air pavilions flow effortlessly from one to the next, blurring the line between inside and out. Reflecting pools and tropical landscaping invite stillness, while expansive glass doors dissolve the boundary between home and horizon.
Rich natural materials—hand-carved wood, textured stone, and warm metal accents—create a rhythm of calm sophistication. Interiors by Martyn Lawrence Bullard bring a layer of worldly refinement: tactile fabrics, intricate patterns, and an easy, barefoot luxury that feels as if it’s always been part of the land.
Every view here is cinematic. Every breeze feels intentional. It’s not just a home—it’s a living, breathing retreat.
🌺 The Coastal Bloom

To match the Malibu Bluff Estate’s balance of grounded tranquility and elevated elegance, we’ve chosen The Coastal Bloom—a sparkling hibiscus and elderflower cocktail that captures the lush, tropical soul of the property.
Why it works:
Like the home itself, this drink is a harmony of contrasts—floral yet structured, vibrant yet restrained. The deep rose hue mirrors the sunsets over the bluff, while the light, botanical sparkle evokes the movement of the ocean below.

🌅 Final Sip
The Malibu Bluff Estate is the definition of quiet luxury: open-air serenity framed by craftsmanship and nature. The Coastal Bloom embodies that same spirit—floral, effervescent, and timeless. Together, they remind us that sophistication doesn’t need to shout. Sometimes, it just needs to breathe.
Up next: we trade ocean breezes for oak-shaded ranchland at Mulholland Ranch, where Spanish revival charm and relaxed elegance set the stage for our next spirited pairing. Until then—cheers.
