Cocktails & Casas: The Ridge House & The Rosemary Greyhound

Welcome to the first installment of Cocktails & Casas, where we pair the soul of a house with the spirit in your glass. This week, we’re toasting to The Ridge House—an organic modern retreat perched along the natural rise of the land, designed to celebrate stillness, texture, and light.

🏡 The Ridge House

Sitting softly along the ridge line, this home doesn’t dominate the landscape—it completes it. The design follows the contours of the land, grounding the architecture in its environment. Reclaimed wood, slate, and natural stone form a palette that feels aged, honest, and rooted. Inside, vaulted ceilings soar above open spaces bathed in creamy white and warm, pale woods, while natural textures layer in depth and calm.

It’s the kind of home that whispers instead of shouts—a place where luxury is found in stillness, warmth, and intention.

🍹 The Rosemary Greyhound

To match the Ridge House’s refined naturalism, we’re pairing it with a Rosemary Greyhound—a cocktail that’s bright, herbal, and quietly complex.

Why it works:

Just like the Ridge House, the Rosemary Greyhound is grounded in simple, natural ingredients—grapefruit, vodka (or gin), and a homemade rosemary syrup that adds depth without overwhelming. It’s refreshing and restrained, with a subtle edge—perfect for sipping on a deck as the sun drops behind a ridge.

🍸 Rosemary Greyhound Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz vodka or gin
  • 3 oz fresh grapefruit juice
  • 0.5 oz rosemary simple syrup
  • Ice
  • Rosemary sprig for garnish
  • Optional: splash of soda water

Instructions:

  1. Shake grapefruit juice, vodka, and rosemary syrup over ice.
  2. Strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice.
  3. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary and a grapefruit wedge.
  4. Optional: top with soda water for a lighter version.

To make rosemary syrup:

  1. Combine 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar, and 3 sprigs of fresh rosemary.
  2. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Cool and strain.  Store in an air-tight container in the refrigerator.

📝 Final Sip

Both the Ridge House and the Rosemary Greyhound remind us that great design—whether architectural or culinary—comes from restraint, clarity, and connection to nature. This pairing celebrates thoughtful materials, soft light, and spaces that let you exhale.

Stay tuned for the next Cocktails & Casas, where we’ll head down to the coast for clear skies and beach vibes. Cheers.
