TRANCAS CANYON, MALIBU CALIFORNIA

Perched on a Malibu hillside, the Trancas Residence was designed and built in 2002 by Robbin Hayne for his family. The L-shaped plan frames an infinity-edge pool and ocean views, with a guest house and landscaped courtyard leading into the main living spaces below. The home steps down the natural slope, its warm plaster walls, exposed wood rafters, and standing-seam roof blending into the coastal landscape. A study in timeless proportion and family-centered design, the residence reflects Hayne Architects’ enduring approach to architecture and living well.
