Project Feature: A Woolsey Fire Rebuild with a View

A Home Rebuilt, A Landscape Reclaimed

Set high above the Malibu hills, this modern two-story home rises from the ashes of the Woolsey Fire with clarity, strength, and a sense of calm. Designed as a primary residence, the home embraces its location with wide-open views, restrained materiality, and a layout that maximizes both vertical volume and connection to the surrounding landscape.

Sometimes the best things are worth the wait.

We’re thrilled to finally share the completed architectural photography of our Woolsey Fire Rebuild project, captured beautifully by Simon Berlyn of Berlyn Media. While the home was completed in 2022, it’s only now—two years later—that we’re getting the chance to revisit and document the finished space. Slow, yes—but deeply satisfying.

The Design: Minimal, Intentional, Strong

The architecture is clean and modern—smooth concrete-gray stucco, strong horizontal lines, and expansive floor-to-ceiling glass walls that frame the canyon and hillside vistas. The contrast between the weight of the stucco and the transparency of the glazing is deliberate, evoking permanence without sacrificing lightness.

Inside, a double-height living space acts as the heart of the home, drawing light deep into the interiors and giving every room a visual connection to the land beyond. Above, a loft-style master bedroom floats over the great room, creating a sense of openness without losing privacy.

Photography by Simon Berlyn

Simon Berlyn’s images bring the story of this home to life—capturing both the sculptural quality of the exterior and the quiet simplicity of the interiors. His work perfectly reflects what we aimed to achieve with this project: a sense of resilience, refinement, and restoration.

Why This Project Matters

Rebuilding after the Woolsey Fire wasn’t just about replacing what was lost—it was about creating something enduring. This project is a testament to the strength of our clients, the collaboration of our team, and the power of thoughtful design to reclaim beauty and comfort in the wake of destruction.

We’re honored to share these final images and grateful to have been part of the journey.
