02 Dec The Architectural Gift Guide – 2020 COVID Edition
We did it. We reached the end of the year and the season of giving. This holiday season we thought we would put together our top COVID gifts for friends and family. Some of these items exist and some we only wish existed!
You’re welcome.
ONE. TOILET PAPER FORT PLANS
Did you or a loved one fall into the toilet paper craze at the beginning of this pandemic? Do you still have back stock? Put your hoarding to good use and make some toilet paper forts to keep the kids busy! Bonus, they are soft so when the game goes awry and they end up getting thrown around the house, it should limit injuries… (Disclaimer: I said SHOULD…)
TWO. A 2021 PLANNER…YES, WE MADE IT!
Let’s be honest, most of us are ready for this year to be over! So we think a planner or calendar is a great gift, especially these ones…
THREE. A PERSONAL ZOOM BACKGROUND
Listen, why clean up the chaos in your life. Working from home and homeschooling is tough! Get your loved ones their own zoom background so they can hide the insanity behind them and appear a bit more professional on all those Zoom meetings.
We personally love this option available from Amazon (for real though!) that attaches to your chair and can fold down into a small pouch when not being used!
Now don’t forget to download some fun and inspiring background images! You can get high-quality free images from Unsplash!
FOUR: AN ARCHITECTURAL INSPIRED FACE MASK
Um, face masks are a MUST! We absolutely love this origami-inspired option available from Design Milk designed by Zimarty! #wearamask
Check out the design process on Youtube!
FIVE: COVID COUTURE – MAINTAIN YOUR SOCIAL DISTANCE
To be honest with you, the Defensible Dress designed by Meejin Yoon has stuck with me since I first learned about it during a presentation at Syracuse University. I have talked about how much I loved it for the past decade (ok, ok… Decade plus) and now I thought why not use it as inspiration for my very own version of the Porcupine Dress…
Unfortunately, my version only exists in my head and in these concept sketches… But how bad*ss would it be!?!?! Do I have any friends in animatronics?
Note: No porcupines were harmed in the making of this design sketch.
