In our last week’s post we took look at what Twin Motion was all about and played around in it to see what it could do.

This week we are throwing Twin Motion in the deep end and seeing how it compares to our awesome-sauce Enscape. Check out below to see the results!

GRAPHICS

Here we compare what the project looks like when it is immediately loading into each program.

This is a clear Enscape win for me. Overall materials and environment look much better and the Revit elements like trees actually render in Enscape.

Mobility

So under this topic we are looking at how easily it is to navigate around the project, switch from drone to walk mode and look around.

Twin Motion might need some more getting used to but the Enscape handle feels smoother to me. It’s easier to switch from “fly” mode to “walk” mode and we can actually walk through doors! In Twin Motion you have to switch into “drone” mode to go through doors and you have to click the eye tool on the side where in Enscape the space bar toogles between the two modes.

Assets

Adding the assets to the project is always fun and helps bring the space to life! So here we look at what assets are offered and how easily they are placed in the project.

Although Enscape does have some really cool assets, the downfall is that they are all placed in the Revit model when in Twin Motion they are separate which helps leave the Revit project model lighter and easier to work in. They are pretty easy to manipulate in each program but the animated assets and different options give Twin Motion the win for this one!

Material Editing

In this category, we are seeing how easy it is to manipulate and change out the material in the project.

Similar to assets, in Enscape the material changes are done in the Revit file and then transfer over which isn’t bad because you now have the material information in the model. However, in Twin Motion you get to quickly pull materials over the different surfaces and can change scale and brightness. For this, Twin Motion takes another W.

Render Output

Of course for the final topic, how does the render output look? For this we took day and night shots to compare.

For me, this is an Enscape win all the way!

And with that, Enscape takes home the belt! Twin Motion has a lot of great features and I think it is definitely worth exploring more but I don’t see it replacing our darling Enscape in this office anytime soon!
